Community Service instead of Driver Responsibility Fees

Some fees will not qualify under this new program. Driver Responsibility Fee Community Service Notification Letters were mailed out to people with qualifying assessments beginning December 19, 2014. The notification letter explains which assessments qualify for community service. The notification will state which offenses qualify and which do not.

The program will include No Proof of Insurance, No Insurance, Drove While License Not Valid or Improper license, Drove without Proper License/Endorsement/Vehicle Group Designator, Drove While License Expired.

10 hours of community service will be required to satisfy the fees for each offense. If you have 3 qualifying offenses then you would have to do 30 hours of community service.

What is not included in the new Driver Responsibility Fee Program?

Unfortunately, Driving While License Suspended/Revoked, and No Insurance Under the Insurance Code.

Operating while Intoxicated or DUI is not listed in the sample letter so it is my guess that it is not included in this program.
