35th District Court Criminal Defense Lawyer
If you have been charged with a crime in Plymouth, Canton, or Northville your case will be heard at the 35th District Court.
The most common offenses we see at the 35th District Court are possession of drugs, drinking and driving, assault, and retail fraud.
Even if you believe that you are guilty of a crime you still need to hire an experienced criminal defense attorney. The judge and the prosecutor (person representing the police) are lawyers, they speak a different language and you need someone that understands it.
Generally, when you have a lawyer you tend to receive better treatment than someone who does not have a lawyer. Even if you think you are guilty an experienced criminal lawyer may still be able to get your case dismissed if the police violated your rights. Even if the police did everything perfectly, your lawyer may still be able to get your case dismissed or sealed or reduced.

35th District Court – Plymouth, Michigan
Judge Plakas, Judge Gerou, or Judge Lowe will preside over your case. Depending on the jurisdiction, the lawyer against you and on the side of the police will be the Canton, Plymouth, Northville city attorney’s office, or the State of Michigan prosecutor’s office for Wayne County.
Your first hearing will be an arraignment where the judge or magistrate will tell you the maximum possible penalty of the offense you are accused of committing and will set a bond.
Your second hearing will be a pre trial where your lawyer will discuss the matter with the prosecutor and try to resolve the case with a plea or a dismissal. If the case cannot be worked out then the matter will be set for a trial.
It is not uncommon for this court to combine both the arraignment and pre-trials in the same day.
As of 2020, this court is handling the matters both in person and via Zoom.
